‘9 forensic drawings,’ 2004

 

Nine forensic artists composed a portrait based solely on a detailed written description I provided of my face. The series explores ideas about perceptions and interpretations. I was interested in understanding one’s ability to describe accurately his/hers physic, in addition to exploring the limitation of language when a visual physical trait is translated into language and back into visual composites. I find the forensic artist’s role and process intriguing, because of the interweaving of technical forensic skills and intuition.
